Just how pathetic were England at the World cup? I couldn't believe my eyes. These guys are all playing in the high class premier league for top teams and yet collectively they couldn't manage to even score past a bunch of French 2nd division players in the Algeria match. Rooney couldn't trap a bag of cement let alone a football, the keeper was about as safe as a toddler behind the wheel of a HGV, Lampard was too busy worrying about his new girlfriend, Gerrard couldn't work out what it was he was supposed to be doing and Terry, oh dear! World class defender? On that Germany performance Terry would be lucky to be classed as the best footballer in a room full of geriatric morris dancers. Just how overrated are these guys? Plus they clearly don't give a toss about playing for their country - where's the passion? The pride? The bravery? The bust-a-gut attitude? When I think about past England world cups I think about Gazza's amazing performance at Italia 90, Lineker getting the golden boot in Mexico, Bryan Robson sweeping aside Platinis' France in 82, Beckhams god-like performance against Argentina in 02. Hell I even applauded Owen Hargreaves gutsy performace against Portugal in the quarters 06 after Rooney had let us down by getting sent off (and easily costing us the match). The whole lot of em should be dropped permanently.
